Graduate assistantships

A graduate assistantship covers your tuition costs for a master's degree.

John C. Bowers Management Scholarship

Selection criteria

The Recipient of this award will be an undergraduate student properly enrolled full-time at Missouri State University, in good academic standing, seeking a degree in Management. Preference shall be given to a student with demonstrated financial need.

Renewal criteria

This scholarship can be renewed, but students must reapply to be considered for renewal. 

Bob Nelson Scholarship

Selection criteria

The Recipient of this award will be an undergraduate student properly enrolled at Missouri State University. Preference given to sophomore or higher declared Entertainment Management major. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required. If no eligible EM candidates, scholarship shall open to any other criteria-eligible College of Business students. Recipients must have a demonstrated interest and commitment to promoting an educational environment that is diverse and inclusive of individuals irrespective of their gender, race/ethnicity, veteran’s status, disability, sexual orientation and/or gender identity. Serious consideration will be given to all ways in which potential recipients might contribute to a diverse educational environment. Preference should be given to a candidate with financial need. Consideration will be given to students who have demonstrated volunteerism, and/or leadership and/or work experience.

E. Ray Love Memorial Scholarship

Selection criteria

  • Awarded annually to a full-time student seeking a degree in the College of Business.  Preference will be given to upper division students, and students whose family income disqualified them from federal financial aid but have significant financial need.

This scholarship can be renewed, but students must reapply to be considered for renewal. 

Roberta Cope Turner Scholarship

Value

Due to the current economic conditions the scholarship amount will be determined by the funding received.

Application

Complete the MSU Annual Scholarship Application by March 1.

Selection criteria

Awarded annually to an undergraduate student seeking a degree from the College of Business that graduated from a class one or two high school in Missouri, Incoming freshman will be considered based on high school academic performance and leadership, while current students must have an overall GPA of 2.5.

Renewal criteria

This scholarship can be renewed, but students must reapply to be considered for renewal. 

John L. and Rita M. Bangs Scholarship

Selection criteria

Awarded annually to a full-time student seeking a degree in the College of Business. Preference will be given to students majoring in computer information systems or marketing. Preference for academically excellent students. Presidential scholars not eligible.

This scholarship can be renewed, but students must reapply to be considered for renewal. 

Dr. James C. and Mary Lee Snapp Graduate Scholarship

Selection criteria

Awarded annually to a full-time graduate student in the College of Business with an undergraduate and graduate GPA of 3.0. Financial need will be considered.

Renewal criteria

This scholarship can be renewed, but students must reapply to be considered for renewal. 

Dr. James C. and Mary Lee Snapp Graduate Scholarship

Selection criteria

Awarded annually to a full-time graduate student in the College of Business with an undergraduate and graduate GPA of 3.0. Consideration will be given to students performing academically at a level consistent with capacity and circumstances, self-support through work, and financial need.

Renewal criteria

This scholarship can be renewed, but students must reapply to be considered for renewal. 

Kenneth E. and Jane A. Meyer Scholarship

Selection criteria

  • Four scholarships awarded annually to full-time students seeking a degree in the College of Business.  Preference given to students from the Mt. Vernon, MO or Butler, MO or from Lawrence or Bates Counties in MO.  Incoming freshmen must be in top 1/4th of their class, must show academic excellence and leadership.  All others must have an overall GPA of 2.5. Character, leadership, and academic performance strongly considered.

This scholarship can be renewed, but students must reapply to be considered for renewal. 

Dr. R. Stephen Parker College of Business Scholarship

Selection criteria

  • Awarded annually to a full-time student seeking a degree in the College of Business.  Student must be from the St. Louis area.  Freshmen considered based on high school academic performance and leadership.  Sophomores or greater must have an overall GPA of 2.5. Awards made with regard for financial need.  Preference should go those students that have participated in the WYMAN Teen Leadership Program of St. Louis.

This scholarship can be renewed, but students must reapply to be considered for renewal. 

Dr. Robert W. and Charlotte K. Bitter Endowed Scholarship Fund (College of Business)

Selection criteria

  • Student must be enrolled in the College of Business.  When awarded to an incoming freshman, consideration will be given to high school performance, college potential, and to leadership qualities.  When awarded to a student enrolled at the sophomore level or higher, the student must have achieved an overall 2.5 GPA.

Renewal criteria

This scholarship is renewed automatically. Students must maintain satisfactory progress and completes 24 hours a year with a minimum 2.5 GPA. This scholarship may only be renewed for a maximum of three years.

Ronald and Carol Bottin Scholarship

Selection criteria

Awarded annually to a full-time undergraduate or graduate student seeking a degree in either Accounting, Finance, or Management. Incoming freshman will be considered based on high school academic performance and leadership, while current students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Preference should go to non-traditional, working, single parents.

Renewal criteria

This scholarship can be renewed, but students must reapply to be considered for renewal. 

Ralph and Carol Williams Management Scholarship

Selection criteria

Awarded annually to a full-time junior or greater majoring in the Management Department with a cumulative GPA of 3.1. Preference for students that are active members in Delta Sigma Pi. Awards made with regard for financial need. Presidential, Board of Governors, and Merit Scholars are not eligible. Students with scholarships equaling more than one-half of tuition are not eligible.

This scholarship can be renewed, but students must reapply to be considered for renewal. 

Springfield Area Human Resources Association Scholarship

Value

Number of scholarships and value dependent on the availability of funding, but awards are generally $750 - $1,000.

Complete the MSU Annual Scholarship Application by March 1.

Selection criteria

Awarded annually to a full-time student majoring or minoring in Human Resource Management. Must be enrolled or have completed MGT 345 or its equivalent. Must demonstrate academic excellence, leadership and character. Preference given for those involved in student chapter of Society for Human Resource Management.

Renewal criteria

This scholarship can be renewed, but students must reapply to be considered for renewal. 

Abraham-Miller Scholarship

Value

One to two $250 scholarships will be awarded.

Selection criteria

Awarded annually to two students, one demonstrating an interest in Human Resources Management and the other to a student demonstrating interest in International Management. Students must have completed MGT 345 and MGT 547 (or their equivalents). If seeking the Human Resource Management portion of the award, student must be a member of the Society for Human Resource Management. All students must be involved on campus, and have financial need.

Robert L. Trewatha International Scholarship

Value

Number of scholarships and value dependent on the availability of funding, but awards are generally $250 - $500.

Application

Complete the MSU Annual Scholarship Application by March 1.

Selection criteria

Awarded annually to full-time students majoring or minoring in International Business. Student must be in good academic standing. Preference for those studying abroad. Must submit one-page, single spaced statement about merit and goals.

Renewal criteria

This scholarship can be renewed, but students must reapply to be considered for renewal. 

Robert L. Trewatha Management Scholarship

Selection criteria

Awarded annually to a full-time student majoring in Management in good academic standing with financial need.

Renewal criteria

This scholarship cannot be renewed. 

Society for Human Resources Management Scholarship

Selection criteria

Awarded annually to a member of the Missouri State University Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 and demonstrating financial need.

Renewal criteria

This scholarship cannot be renewed. 

Daniel G. Kopp Management Scholarship

Selection criteria

Awarded annually to a full-time student with at least 60 hours at time of awarding or more majoring in the Management Department with a cumulative GPA of 3.25. Student has to have lost at least one parent through death. Must write 300 words or less essay on how they have overcome loss and adversity in order to achieve their education. Awards made with regard for financial need.
